In recent headlines, a young girl has gone missing from her home. According to an article by Jessica Remo in the Woodbridge Patch entitled "Searching For Missing Girl Who Tweeted", Remo informs her audience of a young girl who was found missing after she went to the social media site, Twitter, for help.

Kara Alongi, a sixteen year old girl, tweeted "There is somone in my hour ecall 911", which instantly become a nation-wide "trend" on Twitter. Apparently after sending the tweet, Alongi was found missing from her home. Clark Police and her family and friends have been on the lookout through the area and as of 10:30 P.M., have been camping outside of the home with the Police Department photographing the area.

Twitter, an online social media site, is one of the most popular media sites in the world right now. If a tweet or a topic on Twitter get enough attention, it can become a trend, which is seen by anyone on twitter within a certain country or even around the world. Kara's tweet is currently a trend on Twitter, with thousands of people supporting her friends and family through the situation by sending out their concerns.

Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb told Patch that, "there are no obvious signs of a break-in.. the door was open...", leaving some people to believe she may have ran away. There is currently an Amber Alert issued and the Sheriff's Department are investigating all leads in order to solve this case and hopefully bring Kara Alongi back home.

This article caught my attention because I was on Twitter and I saw several people mentioning a missing girl named Kara. One kidnapping that is very prominent in my mind is that of Jaycee Lee Dugard. She was kidnapped at the age of 11 and remained kidnapped for eighteen years, she bore two daughters to her kidnapper. It's such a frightening event that could happen to literally anyone, anywhere, which is why I'm glad Kara Alongi is getting attention and help in order to get her home safely.
