CURRENT CONNECTION @ 10:00 PM
The Guardian, a UK news press, reveals to the public in his article titled,
Man handed out cocaine by mistake to trick-or-treat children, of a man who gave bags of cocaine to children on Halloween night. It's an interesting news article, which informs the public of what happened that Halloween night and what consequences the man received.
According to
The Guardian, the man is named Donald Green and is facing "sentencing on Monday after confessing to the charge of possessing a Class A drug." Cocaine is a powerful drug that stimulates its users. It can cause hallucinations and can also be life threatening, it is an illegal drug.
Supposedly, Donald Green had bought several bags of cocaine earlier that day and stashed them inside of his pockets. On the other hand, his girlfriend had bought him candy to hand out as well, which he also kept in his pockets. Not realizing he had both cocaine and candy bags in his pockets, he meant to hand out candy to the trick or treaters but "instead pulled out a plastic pack containing eight snap bags of cocaine." Coincidentally, the father of the children, Police Officer Simon Fowell, quickly discovered the drugs in the candy and made a call to his on-duty colleagues.
The prosecuter on the case, Sean Brady, states that "had [Fowell] not have gone in and recognised what it was, this could have been a very serious case." The children did not discover the drugs themselves, thanks to their father who checked their candy stashes before they could open them and enjoy their Halloween treats. Meanwhile, Green had realized his mistake and was trying to look for the kids whom he'd given the drugs to, though he went without luck.
What I find interesting about this article is the fact that the man, Donald Green, would accidentally give away drugs instead of candy. Although, I also find it hard to believe that a man who is doing cocaine, a hard core drug, is deciding to hand out candy on Halloween night. It's an unusal case, though it does make the public realize that there are people who can sabotage children's candy on Halloween, or any other time. It's always better to be on the safe side and take extra procautions.
Ironically, the father of the children was a police officer and Donald Green did get arrested. Fortunately for this case, the children were not harmed. For Donald Green, although he was trying to participate in a good cause, it backfired on him due to his bad habits. He will be preparing for a probation report on Monday, November 19, 2012.
